An increasing number of our trainees are employed through our
summer vacation schemes. Whether you are a law or non-law student,
our summer vacation schemes will introduce you to the work of a
City solicitor. While with us, you will sit with either a partner
or associate, as well as work with our current trainees.
You will have the opportunity to:
- attend meetings/negotiations and conferences with clients
and/or counsel;
- attend court hearings and assist in preparing cases for
trial;
- draft documents;
- prepare legal and case research using our legal databases;
- learn practical office procedures;
- visit the Law Courts and take part in our Legal London
Tour;
- visit various City financial institutions including Lloyd's of
London and the Bank of England; and
- participate in sporting and social events with other members of
the firm.
The schemes are aimed principally at second-year law or final-year
non-law undergraduates, but we will consider applications from
post-graduates who are at a different stage in
their career.
We hold informal interviews for the summer vacation
schemes on university campus and/or at our offices. If
you are unable to secure a place on one of our summer vacation
schemes, your application is automatically considered for a
training contract interview day. All we ask is that you
update your details on your application form when
appropriate.

First-year
Students
Unfortunately we are unable to consider first-year students on
the summer vacation schemes. Instead we run a series of one-week
placements for first-year students on a first-come, first-served
basis. These placements are unpaid and are not part of our
recruitment process.
To apply for such a placement, please e-mail a copy of your CV
indicating the week(s) you are available to participate in these
placements to grad.recruit@blg.co.uk.
