The contingency and
special risks team is part of our commercial risk and reinsurance
team and has many years' experience advising on all types of
contingency claims. We meet all our clients'
needs for practical advice and effective dispute resolution
services and are recognised by legal directories as a market leader
in this area.
We also have expertise in non-marine
special risks including jewellers' block, fine arts, and kidnap and
ransom.
Our clients include insurers and
reinsurers from around the world. We act for Lloyd's syndicates,
London company market insurers, and overseas clients. We understand
the industry in which our clients operate and provide them with
commercially-pragmatic solutions.
- we lead the market for advising on claims involving
non-appearance, postponement, cancellation and abandonment arising
from sporting, trade show and entertainment events, prize
indemnity, over-redemption, film producers' E&O insurance,
completion bonds, death and disgrace, AFVPA, and FPI
insurances.
- we have advised insurers on most of the major events that have
impacted the contingency market in recent years, including
September 11, 2001, and SARS; and
- we have advised insurers and reinsurers on more than 100 'gap'
film finance matters (contentious and non-contentious).
All our team members have
substantial experience in mediation and other forms of alternative
dispute resolution. Some of them are also accredited CEDR
mediators. We frequently advise on policy wording drafting
(including bespoke wording) and coverage disputes involving the
standard market.
