Our firm has over 30 years' experience in handling professional
negligence claims. We have been involved in many of the
leading cases concerning legal professionals' liability
including Dubai Aluminium v Salaam, Paragon
Finance Plc v Freshfields, Bhamjee v Forsdick, and
the Nationwide litigation in which we defended some 500
sets of proceedings brought against solicitors.
Our work for solicitors includes large commercial claims arising
from M&A advice, as well as smaller claims by private clients,
or claims arising from conveyancing advice. Clients include
leading insurers of solicitors' practices, the Hong Kong
Solicitors' Indemnity Fund, and Australia's Law Cover.
Our firm also acts for the English Bar Mutual Indemnity Fund on
claims including large commercial actions against leading QCs and
multiple claims by litigants-in-person arising out of public law
issues. We are highly experienced at handling the most sensitive
and confidential professional issues, and are recognised by legal
directories as the leading firm in this area.
We have close relationships with numerous UK and international
law firms and barristers' chambers, many of whom specifically ask
their insurers to instruct us in claims against them. We have
unrivalled knowledge of the open-market insurance arrangements
introduced in 2000, and have acted on some of the largest claims to
date under this new regime. Our firm has advised many leading
insurers on policy wording, and is often called upon to advise on
policy and coverage issues.
By having a deep understanding of the challenges faced by
lawyers, we are able to tailor our advice and offer practical risk
management solutions.
