As public bodies continue to exercise greater
control over businesses, judicial review is becoming increasingly
important.
Our team has considerable expertise and broad
experience in challenging decisions made by public
bodies. We have advised on matters ranging from
judicial review of decisions made by the Financial Services
Authority, bringing a statutory appeal against the Secretary of
State for Transport, to judicial review, on behalf of the residents
of a London borough, of the Home Secretary's decision to establish
hostels housing serious offenders in their
borough.
We appreciate that this is an area where
compromise can be appropriate and have worked on a large number of
negotiated settlements with public bodies on public law
issues. Nonetheless, where court proceedings are
necessary, we will act decisively and swiftly to ensure quick and
effective resolution of the issues.
