BLG hosts 10th annual London Market Quiz

Date: Friday, November 13, 2009

Barlow Lyde & Gilbert LLP (“BLG”) last night held its annual London Market Charity Quiz at the Captain’s Room at Lloyd’s.

The event, hosted by television and radio presenter Danny Baker, was attended by over 170 insurers, reinsurers, and brokers from across the London Market.

Now in its tenth year, guests at the event raised £16,000 for The Child Bereavement Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, through the sponsoring of tables, prizes, and quiz rounds, and buying raffle tickets.

BLG senior partner Simon Konsta said: “We are delighted to support The Child Bereavement Charity and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. These charities do incredibly important work for children and their families and it’s a privilege to help them achieve their fundraising goals. Since 1999, the quiz nights have raised in excess of £360,000 for charity, and we are grateful to our clients and guests who continue to support this fundraising event.”

Notes to editors:

1. The Child Bereavement Charity is a national charity that supports families and educates professionals both when a child dies and when a child grieves. The charity provides a support and information service, an online forum for families, and Buckinghamshire-based support groups, as well as training and support for professionals who come into contact with bereaved families.

2. Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity raises money to enable Great Ormond Street Hospital to provide world-class care for its young patients and their families and to pioneer new treatments and cures for childhood illness by: contributing to the rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital; funding the most up-to-date equipment; supporting research into, and development of, breakthrough treatments; and providing accommodation and other support services for children and their families.
