James Cooper is a partner in our professional
and financial disputes team and is part of the financial
institutions team and the cross-departmental
financial services regulatory team.
James specialises in all aspects of financial
services and has extensive experience in acting for financial
institutions on contentious matters in a number of jurisdictions.
Much of this has involved arbitration and cross-border work with an
Eastern Bloc and South East Asian connection, as well as dealing
with complex recovery work through the English courts for a major
high street bank.
James’ insurance experience covers all aspects
of financial institutions claims, including Bankers Blanket Bond
and Civil Liability claims. He is currently involved in a number of
‘catastrophe’ claims, particularly class action claims emanating
from the US, and financial product misselling claims. James also
has considerable experience of advising insurers in relation to
policy wordings.
James is admitted to practice in England &
Wales, and Hong Kong, and is recommended in the Legal 500,
2009.
