Peter heads the firm’s Hong Kong Aerospace
Group and works closely with the aerospace teams in Singapore and
London. He is a hybrid lawyer and advises on both contentious
and non-contentious transactions.
Peter handles a broad range of aviation and
product liability, insurance, commercial and regulatory matters for
airlines, GA and business jet operators, airports, manufacturers,
ground handlers and MROs in many jurisdictions throughout Asia,
Europe, Africa and the Americas.
Significant contentious cases that Peter is
involved in include acting for insurers and reinsurers in the loss
of a Malaysian Airlines Airbus aircraft (PRC Supreme Court) and
significant damage to a Cargolux aircraft (PRC Supreme Court) and
certain regulatory investigations.
Peter enjoys a notable profile as ‘a skilled
specialist aviation insurance lawyer’ for both contentious and
non-contentious matters and is recognised as a leading individual
for Insurance (both contentious and non-contentious) in Chambers
Asia 2009 and 2010. He was also recommended in the International
Who's Who of Aviation Lawyers 2008-2010, the 2008 Legal Media Group
Guide to the World's Leading Aviation Lawyers and the Asia-Pacific
Legal 500 2007/2008.
Peter has lived and worked in Asia for over 13
years. He is Vice Chair of the Aviation Committee of the IPBA and a
Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Peter qualified as a solicitor in England in
1996 and Hong Kong in 2003, and joined Barlow Lyde & Gilbert in
2001 from Beaumont and Son. He is a regular speaker at conferences
and contributes articles to a number of aviation and insurance
periodicals.
