Roderic McLauchlan specialises in professional liability
defence and insurance coverage issues. His cases involve a wide
range of professions, including directors & officers,
accountants, financial institutions, and trustees, generally with
international and offshore aspects. Highlight cases include dealing
with one of the largest US D&O class actions in recent years,
resolution of large insurance coverage dispute with a Canadian
Bank, and defence of a multi-million pound claim against a UK
accounting firm. He has significant experience in dispute
resolution through litigation, arbitration and mediation, which he
gained not only as a solicitor but also in-house with a major
insurer. He also provides non-contentious advice on insurance
issues and policy wording. Prior to joining BLG and requalifying,
he practised law in Montreal, Canada, specialising in insurance
litigation and professional indemnity defence work, and remains a
member of the Quebec Bar. Bilingual (English - French), he has
published in the field of D&O, securities litigation, and
insurance and is a regular speaker at professional seminars.
